3M Arch proof tape

Recommended to improve safety and reduce chances for fire due to short circuit. Works on principal of temperature rise and subsequent melting of metal. Fires normally happen due to short circuit , Active and passive fire protection comes to effect after fire happens, the fore starts due to short circuit generated arch,  3M Scotch 77 can withstand 75 arch’s with 50% overlap and 145 arch with 2 layers of 50% overlap. Thus it prevents arch to convert to fire but during this process the metal melts and joint dislocates , thus chances of fire due to short circuit reduces.

Understanding concept in detail :  There is active fire and passive fire suppression concepts available as on date. Active fire suppresses the flame and Passive fire ensures it does not spreads.

Normally customers buy fire extinguishers and take a fire coating on cables to stop prevent spread of fire. Short circuit fires start with arch which subsequently converts to flame , there is no solutions for arch protection except 3M Scotch 77 arch proof tape which will withstand arch to prevent cables catching fire. The tape should be used along with cable coating for ensure enhanced safety. All joints in addition to fire coating at lug side / joint side should be wrapped using Scotch 77 and held using Scotch 69 tape.

3M Scotch 77 tape is only arch resistant tape which can prevent spread of fire due to short circuit,  almost 70% fire incidents happen due to short circuit, this leads to cables catching fire and need protection. There is additional requirement that material should be non bulky and burn resistant. We would like you to consider 3M Scotch 77 tape for this application. It is oil resistant , burn resistant, and reusable. It is much easier to apply.

3M Scotch 77 arch and burn resistant tape which is recommended to be wrapped for the cables to protect them from flame. All cables entering in the area or leaving should be wrapped with 3M Scotch 77 tape. 3M Scotch 77 – Arch proof tape, this tape can withstand 1093 degree torch blast flame from 3 inches away for 3 minutes – that’s a very crucial time gain to extinguish it or circuit breaks due to melting , reduce damage and prevent spread. The tape is arch resistant also. It can withstand Simulated High current fault arc (13000 K) with  one half-lap layer 75 cycles.
